Home Schooling is not a Quality Education, Apparently

A quote from Lincoln school board member Earl Hunton, in today's NWA Times:

"This is a good situation for parents who want to home school thier children and also want a quality education for them."

Ouch.

This is in regards to a charter high school within Lincoln High School where 100 of the 130 students are home schooled.

The school gets about $6,000 per student from the state. New rules say that to get the funds, a student has to be physically in the school 20 hours per week to be counted. Meaning that if the home schoolers stay home schooled, there goes $600,000.

No wonder he's putting them (me) down.

July 2nd, 2012 will mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the first Walmart store. As part of the celebration, we've launched a new site: walmart50.com.

Walmart as a company has a rich heritage and culture. We've attempted to capture as much of that as possible by integrating associate stories, articles regarding milestones in our history, videos, and several interactive features. You can even submit your own story of how Walmart has made a difference in your life.

I'm proud to be a part of it all, and hope you will join us as we celebrate our 50th.
